H. Wayne "Hoot" Williams grew up in Indiana, found God again through 12 Step meetings, and went on to found a Friends of Jesus church in Philadelphia.

“I got sober, and AA sort of brought me back to God because they talk about “A God of your understanding.” I was told that if I didn't like the God of my childhood understanding, I could get rid of that God and and find a new one.”

“So I did that. I started to have a relationship with God where I was loved and accepted, treasured and held and comforted.”
